Legalization and Authentication

Documents issued in a foreign language should be translated into English by a sworn (official) translator before submitting to the consular section of the embassy for legalization and authentication.

Legalization of private documents:

Birth certificates, Marriage certificates and Declaration of bachelor- or spinsterhood/ Affidavit of single status

 

Authentication of Driver’s license:

Requirements:

– An application letter addressed to the Consular Section, Embassy of Nigeria, Bucharest

– Actual license (original copy)

– Copy of data page of international passport

– Receipt/ confirmation of payment

Legalization of company documents:

Corporate documents such as Registration of Company etc. should be endorsed by either the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or the Chamber of Commerce in the respective country before presenting at the consular section of the embassy for legalization/authentication.

Requirements:

– An application letter addressed to the Consular Section, Embassy of Nigeria, Bucharest.

– Actual document to be legalized (original copy)

– Receipt/ confirmation of payment

Documents required by the Embassy in respect of Marriage between a Nigerian and a romanian citizen

I. Documents of the Nigerian  citizen

1. The original Certificate of Bachelorhood of the Nigerian Citizen (issued by the Local Government from Nigeria and authenticated by the Nigerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs

2. The original Certificate of Birth of the Nigerian citizen authenticated by the Nigerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (if the applicant is in Nigeria; if in Romania he/she will use the one in possession)

3. Identity documents, proof of legal stay in Romania ***

4. Notary Declaration/Consent by the parents of the respective Nigerian applicant, that they agree on the marriage.

II. Documents of the Romanian citizen

1. Notary Declaration/Consent by the parents that they agree on the marriage, to the respective Nigerian Citizen.

2. Copy of the identity document.

III. Declaration by the applicant and thye future spouse that they assume the responsibility of the marriage and they will never claim anything from the Embassy.

*** The Romanian Town Hall Marriage Unit will not consider the request application for marriage if the respective Nigerian citizen does not have a valid Romanian visa.

FEES:
$30 – the Legalization of the Birth Certificate
$30 – the Legalization of the Bachelorhood Certificate

+ Service Charge Fee (may vary by case)
